At the All India Conference of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AICOG), Dr. Rupali Bassi delivered an insightful talk on PGT-M (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders), drawing strong interest from obstetricians, gynaecologists, and fertility specialists across the country.

In her talk, Dr. Bassi explained how PGT-M helps identify specific inherited genetic disorders in embryos before pregnancy. This advanced technique allows doctors to select healthy embryos during IVF, significantly reducing the risk of passing on serious genetic diseases such as thalassemia, cystic fibrosis, and certain muscular disorders.
Dr. Bassi emphasized that PGT-M is especially valuable for couples with a known family history of genetic conditions or those who have experienced repeated pregnancy losses. By ensuring only unaffected embryos are transferred, PGT-M offers families a safer path toward a healthy pregnancy and baby.
The session also highlighted the growing role of genetic testing in modern reproductive medicine and the need for increased awareness among clinicians. Dr. Bassi’s presentation at AICOG reinforced the importance of personalized, science-driven fertility care for better maternal and child health outcomes.
